Jewellery intended to be loaned out to celebrities for red carpet appearances at the Cannes Film Festival has been stolen from an employee's hotel room. $1 million worth (approx £656,000) of diamonds were thought to have been stolen during the night of Thursday, May 16. The gems were taken from a Chopard employee's room in the Novotel Hotel on the city's boulevard Carnot.AFP report that a source claims a safe containing the jewellery was unsealed and taken by the robbers.
